Dodson Outscores Bearcubs, 78-70
Despite an outstanding performance by Keein Ackerman, Frazer’s boys fell 78-70 against Dodson in loser-out play at the District 3C tournament in Wolf Point on Friday, Feb. 18.
Ackerman, a 5-8 senior, accounted for 40 points in the contest.
The Bearcubs enjoys a 39-35 half-time advantage as Ackerman scored 22 points in the half.
The scoring of Ackerman, Joseph Beston and Blue Fettig kept Frazer in the lead until two baskets by 6-3 senior Dwight Werk put the Coyotes up 52-50 to end the third quarter.
Frazer’s last lead was 55-54 when Ackerman hit a pair of free throws with 7:13 remaining.
Dodson tallied the next 11 points including five points by Mikey James.
Two free throws by Ackerman brought the Bearcubs as close as 69-64 with 1:41 left, but Dodson held on the victory.
Other scorers for Frazer included Jonathan Jackson with nine and Beston with seven points.
Leading Dodson were D. Werk with 21, Alex Werk with 12 and Kadin Racine with 11 points.
