Gymnasts Place in Billings
Seventeen girls from the Eastern Montana Gymnastics team competed at the annual Yellowstone Invitational gymnastics meet in Billings on Feb. 26. The EMG Team won 31 top three event medals that were awarded in each age group and had four second- place all-around winners and six third-place all-around winners. Out of the total of 21 bronze gymnasts, Gentry Rosaaen, of Circle, had the number one balance beam routine, while, out of all 32 gold gymnasts, Aspen Boje, of Glendive had the number one beam routine. Ava Hove, of Circle, was tied for first place for her uneven bar routine in the gold session.
The Circle gym’s gold team won third place, out of the five gold teams, with Billings and Great Falls on top.
Four girls competed in the bronze Level and all had some top placings. Besides Gentry Rosaaen’s top 9.5 beam routine, she was tied overall for third on floor and was third for her all-around, out of the 21 bronze gymnasts. Brooklynn Boren, of Glendive, also had the overall third-place vault. Rosaaen, Boren and Mya Verschoot, of Richey, competed in the middle age group of seven gymnasts. Besides first on beam, Rosaaen was tied for second on bars, second on floor and all-around and tied for fourth on vault. Verschoot was third on vault, floor and all-around and was fourth on beam and tied for fourth on bars. Boren was second on vault and third on beam. Jud Rehbein, of Richey, competed in the younger age group of seven gymnasts and was second on vault and beam, third for floor and all-around and tied for fourth on bars.
Seven EMG girls competed in the silver level. Ali Gibbs, of Circle, led her team again with some top routines. Her 9.45 beam routine was tied for third, out of all the 35 silver gymnasts, while her 9.45 bars routine was tied for fourth. She also was in fifth place for all-around, out of all Silvers. She competed in the tough Senior B age group of ten gymnasts and in that she was tied for third on bars and beam, tied for fifth on floor and fourth for her all-around. Azzy Toavs, of Wolf Point, also competed in that age group and had her best routines on beam and floor. Kynlee Houck, of Glendive; DaRae Deserly, of Wolf Point; and Nomi Deserly, of Wolf Point, competed in the Senior A age group of seven gymnasts. Kynlee was first on beam, second for all-around and third on vault. DaRae was first on floor, third for her all-around and fourth on vault and beam. Nomi was tied for second on beam, third on bars, tied for third on floor and fourth for all-around. Competing in the Junior B age group of 7 gymnasts, Ashlynn Johannessen, of Wolf Point, was tied for third on vault, fourth for all-around and tied for fourth on floor. Emma Hove, of Circle, was tied for fourth on beam, fifth for all-around, tied for fifth on bars and sixth on vault, out of the eleven gymnasts in the Junior A age group.
All six of the EMG Gold gymnasts had some top routines in the entire Gold session of 32 gymnasts. Besides Aspen Boje’s 9.65 first-place beam routine and Ava Hove’s 9.5 tie for the first-place bar routine, Lina Smith, of Richey, was right behind Aspen with the second-place overall beam routine and Justine Massar, of Circle, had the fifth-place overall beam routine. Smith also had the overall fourth-place allaround score, while Kendra Linder, of Glendive, and Ella Beery, of Circle, were tied for the fourth-place overall floor routine. Ella, Hove and Massar competed in the Junior A age group of eight gymnasts. In that, Berry was second on floor and tied for fourth on beam. Ava was, of course, first on bars, third on beam and second for all-around. Justine was second on beam, tied for second on bars and third for all-around. In the Senior A age group of eight gymnasts, Kendra was second on vault, floor and all-around and was third on bars and tied for third on beam. Aspen competed in the same age group and, besides her top beam routine, was third on floor and all-around. Lina Smith competed in the Senior B age group of nine gymnasts and was first on beam, third for all-around and fourth on bars and floor.

The EMG gymnasts will have their last regular season meet in Minot before the Montana State Gymnastics Championships in Bozeman at the end of March.
