Culbertson High School senior Jahrone Kendall is most happy when he can work on computers.

“I enjoy computer programming and I’m doing robotics right now,” Kendall said.

He is part of the school’s robotics team with Payton Perkins and Trevor Powell.

“We are exploring the Lego Mindstorms kits,” Kendall explained.

He is looking forward to participating in a Science Olympiad competition sometime this spring.

In the classroom, his favorite subject is history.

“It’s fun to learn of stories from the past,” Kendall said. “I’ve learned a lot from people’s mistakes and successes.”

One topic he found interesting was World War I. Another favorite subject was Norse mythology.

“I think the Gods are pretty interesting,” Kendall said. His favorite teacher is Dave Solem.

“He’s a real down to earth teacher,” Kendall said. “He wants to teach you, not just give you an assignment.”

After high school, Kendall plans to attend Fort Peck Community College for two years and then study computer science at Southern New Hampshire University.

“I think I want to go somewhere else and get established, and then come back here,” Kendall said.

He has attended high school in Culbertson after moving from California.

“I’m enjoying living here quite a bit,” he said. “It’s more friendly and more quiet.”
