Poplar Enjoys Strong Turnout For Upcoming Track Campaign

The Poplar Indians are looking forward to a solid track season with 34 athletes out for the sport this season.
“For right now, it’s a good number,” Poplar Coach Brent Moore said.
Among the returning athletes is Jazmin Gorder. She finished second in the 800 and sixth in the 1600 at the Class B state track meet last season.
Other returning athletes who qualified for state include Kameron Reum in the 110-meter hurdles and Jazmyn CarryWater in the 3200.
Among the Indians who also enjoyed solid seasons last season included Jase Frederick in hurdles and the 800 and distance runner Renita Irizarry.
“We have a bunch of new ones that didn’t come out last year or are freshmen,” Moore said.
He is pleased with the attitudes of many newcomers to the sport.
“It’s good that people who might not be in other athletics have gone out,” Moore said.
The Indians will open their season in Glasgow on April 1.
The district meet is May 14 in Glasgow, and the divisional meet is scheduled for May 21 in Great Falls. The state meet is May 26-28 in Great Falls.
“We want to qualify as many people from district for divisional as possible and then from divisional to state,” Moore said.
