The Lustre Christian Lions kicked off their track season in impressive fashion at the Glasgow Invitational on Friday, April 1.

The Lions earned fifth place in the boys’ standings with 82 points. The only Class C school with more points was Plentywood with 92. The top three boys’ teams at the meet were Havre with 214, Malta with 162 and Glasgow with 158.

Jasiah Hambira got his season off to a great start as he placed first in the high jump by clearing 5-8, finished first in the 400 at 55.49 seconds and took first in the triple jump with a best of 39-9.

The junior added a second- place showing in the 200 at 25.24 seconds.

Elijah Lenihan placed fourth in the high jump by clearing 5-6.

The 1600-meter relay team of Lenihan, Naveen Pilla, Cayden Klatt and Hambira finished seventh with a time of 4:41.55.

Klatt took 10th in the 800 at 2:26.58 and 14th in the 1600 at 5:49.95.

On the girls’ side, Rebekah Jossart led the Lions by taking 11th in the 3200.

Lustre will compete in Lambert on Thursday, April 7.
