The Poplar Indians enjoyed a strong start to their track season at the Glasgow Invitational on Friday, April 1.

Poplar’s boys placed eighth in the team standings with 52 points. Havre topped the standings with 214 points followed by Malta with 162 points and Glasgow with 158 points.

Poplar’s girls took 10th with 42 points. Plentywood won the team title with 194.33 points followed by Savage with 110 and Scobey with 106 points.

Kameron Reum put together an outstanding meet for the Indians. The sophomore was a double winner with victories in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.38 seconds and 300-meter hurdles in 45.9 seconds.

Freshman Kaniel Ricker earned fifth in the triple jump with a best of 36-01. He finished eighth in the 300-meter hurdles at 48.71 seconds.

Jase Frederick earned fifth place in the 3200 at 11:40.12.

Poplar’s boys’ 1600-meter relay team finished fifth at 4:07.68. The relay consisted of Delray Lilley, Reum, Ricker and Frederick.

Lilley took ninth in the 200 at 26.49 seconds.

Jazmin Gorder led Poplar’s girls by earning second in the 800 at 2:32.65 and fifth in the 1600 at 5:52.84.

Poplar’s girls’ 1600-meter relay team featuring Jazmyn Carry Water, Bailey Dupree, Gorder and Reinita Irizarry finished second at 4:47.67.

Irizarry took fifth place in the 3200 at 14:03.55.

Precous Keiser earned sixth in the javelin with a best of 86-03. The freshman took eighth in the shot put at 27-11.

Placing seventh were Teagan Escarcega in the discus at 83-0, Mattie Ayers in the 800 at 2:52.68 and Carry Water in the 3200 at 14:13.37.

Taking 10th were Dupree with a time of 55.0 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles and Ayers with a time of 6:32.65 in the 1600.

Poplar will travel to compete in Baker on Saturday, April 9.
