Area Wrestlers Earn All-America Honors At Meet


Two area wrestlers earned All-America honors during the Twin Rivers Girls National Duals held in Des Moines, Iowa, earlier this month.
Poplar’s Angeline Escarega posted a 7-1 record and Jazmin Gorder had a 6-2 mark to capture All-America honors.
Wolf Point’s Joli Beston posted victories at the tournament for the Montana team. Poplar’s Kasie Colgan, an eighth-grader, won a match for the squad.
Montana placed sixth as a team. Coaching from Poplar were Jason Frederick, Zane Wofford and Tasha Fourstar.
Wolf Point’s Annaleigh Matejovsky had a 3-1 record in the girls’ younger division at the national duals.
Poplar’s Jacob Berger recorded a 3-5 for Montana’s silver team in the boys’ division.
Wolf Point’s Jesse Reed and Casey Reed competed in the junior boys’ division. Each had 3-5 records at the national competition.
Poplar will hold a wrestling camp on June 4-6. There will be no charge for the camp. Dustyn Azure, head wrestling coach of Eastern Oregon University, will lead the camp. Contact Jason Frederick for more information.
