Stray Dog Roundup Announced

The Fort Peck Tribal Health Department with the approval of the tribal executive board has decided to conduct a stray dog roundup across the Fort Peck Reservation. The decision came after numerous complaints regarding stray dogs and dog bites.

The Fort Peck Tribes’ comprehensive code of justice currently requires that all owners of dogs and other domesticated pets must prevent their pets from freely roaming from the owner’s immediate property. Any pet or pets, whether licenses or unlicensed, that roam away from the owner’s property should be considered a stray animal.

Any stray animal that has a current license and rabies vaccination tag, will be taken to the Wolf Point City Dog Pound. If the animal is not claimed, it will be destroyed or adopted out. Any stray animal that does not have a current license and rabies vaccination tag, will be immediately destroyed when picked up.
