School Board Approves Policy Updates, Brock Added To Chanté Project Hires
The Wolf Point School board held its regular meeting Monday, Jan. 14.
Minutes were approved for the Dec. 9 regular meeting. Warrant registers and claims against the district were also approved.
During board reports, Northside principal Georgie Gourneau said the fourth through sixth grades performed in the gym for their winter Christmas concert. The teachers brought in cookies and the districy provided hot chocolate. Gourneau also reported that attendance for those grades is averaging around 92 percent.
Junior high principal John Wetsit reported that combined attendance for the year to date is 87.05 percent.
High school principal Kim Hanks reported a total enrollment of 219 students. She said special education teachers, counselors and administration are busy with Limited English Proficient testing. The testing window closes the end of January.
Southside School para Della Pipestem submitted her resignation.
Southside principal Greg Gourneau was approved for hire as a substitute activity bus driver and a substitute bus route driver. Jason Brock was hired to teach painting with the Chanté Project after-school program.
Purchase orders and estimates were approved for a 2013 Genie 26’ scissor lift at a cost of $8,500 and planned 2020 gym repairs at a cost of $15,925.
Policy changes and updates were approved from the Montana School Board Association. New policies included cyber incident response and student club rules, as well as four other itemized additions. Thirty- five revisions to the policies were approved, including policies for relations with law enforcement agencies, tobacco-free rules, maternity and paternity leave and visitor and spectator conduct.
The board ratified the WPESSA classified employees contract.
Superintendent Loverty Erickson joined the board in executive session to discuss updates from the Office of Civil Rights and Erickson’s superintendent evaluation.
Upcoming board meetings are scheduled for Feb. 10 and March 9.
