Bergie Sentenced, Others Appear In District Court

Mada Martell Bergie was sentenced for felonies during a hearing in district court on Wednesday, Oct. 12.

As part of a plea agreement, Bergie received a four-year sentence, all suspended, with the Montana Department of Corrections for the offense of assault with a weapon. For the offense of intimidation, she received a four-year deferred sentence. She was fined $500 for each offense. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Bergie admitted hitting her husband on the knee with a baseball bat on March 22, 2021. Then, in April 2021, she threaten her husband to prevent him from calling law enforcement.

In other cases heard by District Judge David J. Cybulski on Oct. 12: * Amanda Sharyce Walton denied violations during her petition to revoke initial appearance. She denied the violation of having weapons. A hearing was scheduled for Jan. 11, 2023.

* Monte Ray Walton denied violations during his petition to revoke initial appearance. He denied charges that included sexual abuse with children, witness tampering and possession of guns. A hearing was scheduled for Nov. 16.

* Shaun Travis Marchwick made not guilty pleas to the charges of possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. An omnibus hearing was scheduled for Nov. 16. A trial was scheduled for Jan. 12, 2023. His bond was reduced to $25,000.

* Weldon Drew admitted to the violation of his parole by having drug paraphernalia. He was released to receive treatment at the Badlands Treatment Center in Glendive.

* Lorenzo Dean Valencia made a not guilty plea to theft. His omnibus hearing was scheduled for Nov. 29. His trial was scheduled for Jan. 12, 2023.

* Joshua Kyle Burks denied violations during his petition to revoke initial appearance. He denied the violations of criminal possession of dangerous drugs and illegal drug use. A hearing was scheduled for Nov. 29.
