Culbertson Loses Close League Match In Fairview
The Culbertson Cowgirls lost a tough conference volleyball match in Fairview on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Fairview won the very close four-set match by a 2125, 25-22, 25-23, 25-15, final.
The first set was deadlocked at 21-21 when the Cowgirls struck for the last four points on three aces by freshman Leandra Perkins and a block by Destiny Thompson.
Culbertson gained a 20-16 advantage in the second set. The Cowgirls still led 22-20 until the Warriors accounted for the last five points of the set.
An ace by Perla Burciaga put Culbertson ahead 20-19 in the third set. Thompson scored a kill for a 23-21 advantage, but Fairview then scored the last four points.
The Cowgirls trailed by only a 14-12 margin early in the fourth set, but Fairview took a 22-15 lead en route to the league victory.
Culbertson will travel to Plentywood on Thursday, Oct. 13, and host North Country on Saturday, Oct. 15.
