Martin Facing Charges After Wreck

A 20-year-old Wolf Point woman is facing numerous charges after the vehicle she was driving struck a parked flatbed trailer Sunday, Feb. 2.

Aeryn Martin was charged with criminal endangerment, fleeing from or eluding an officer, resisting arrest, aggravated driving under the influence, DUI refusal and duties in the event of an accident and no insurance.

According to the Wolf Point Police Department, the crash occurred at 8:48 p.m. near the intersection of Sixth Avenue South and Fairweather Street. Martin was eastbound at a high rate of speed on West Fairweather Street/ Smith Road in a Nissan sedan when she failed to stop and struck the parked trailer. The collision moved the trailer several feet and Martin attempted to drive away.

When law enforcement arrived, they discovered the bumper from the Nissan laying near the trailer and the sedan south of the intersection where it had been abandoned. There were no signs that an attempt to brake was made, Wolf Point Police Chief Jeff Harada said.

After questioning witnesses to the wreck, Martin was identified as the registered owner of the Nissan and was arrested and detained. The Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice assisted.
