Records Fall During Crooked Creek Classic
The winning team broke a Montana tournament fishing record during the Crooked Creek Classic held at Fort Peck in May.
Matt Fischer of Helena and Ty Hinderager of Fort Shaw finished with a record-setting 100.26 pounds in the year’s first tournament of the Montana Walleye Circuit. The amount sets the state record for most pounds of fish caught in a Montana two-day tournament.
The guaranteed first-place prize was $10,000.
The previous record was the Circle team of Colby Loudon and daughter Cierra Loudon of 97.03 pounds in the fall of 2020.
Also during the tournament, Kyle Vine of Vida and Colby Tognetti of Lewistown broke the daily weight record with 55.7 pounds.
Vine and Tognetti placed second in the tournament with a total of 99.08 pounds. Treveor Kleppelid and Braden Rolandson earned third place with 96.08 pounds.
Placing fourth were Jake Monroe and Jeff Ingram with 94 pounds. Gage Gordon and Ziek Gordon took fifth with 84.11 pounds.
Taking sixth were Derrick Hedalen and Andy Brown with 82.01 pounds. Waylon Janosek and Dean Pearson earned seventh at 76.90 pounds.
The team of Don Jamison and Chris Bossell was eighth at 75.97 pounds. Matt Poole and Adam Morehouse placed ninth at 73.32 pounds. Tucker Lien and Tim Kobza placed 10th at 73.24 pounds.
