Bainville Council Approves Budget, Public Hearing Set

 

The Bainville Town Council passed a resolution adopting the budget for Fiscal Year 2023-24 at the Sept. 11 regular meeting. A resolution was also passed increasing solid waste rates. A public hearing has been set Oct. 9 to discuss the rate increases.

During the public comment period, an attendee requested that extra agenda packets be printed and prepared for visitors. Clerk Mary Rathbun said she would make additional agenda packets available.

A building permit was approved for Mayor Toby Romo to construct a fence and porch at 6 Rhea Ave. W.

Samantha Mahlen was approved for hire as a financial analyst to look for inefficiencies in the budget. Carol Rassmussen and John Gilligan were added to the list of signatories for checks and town documents.

Romo reports that Chet McLean is working on the annual financial report for FY23. He added that final numbers on the rate study will be ready once the AFR is completed.

The treasurer’s report was approved, containing cash balances, year-to-date expense reports, petty cash spreadsheets for August, utility billing, delinquent accounts and claims and payroll.

The next regular council meeting is set for Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
