Local History Now Available Online

The Wolf Point Herald (1920-1932) is now available online at chroniclingamerica. loc.gov.

Historic newspapers are a treasure trove of information. Often used for genealogical research, these newspapers also provide the stories of their community.

The Jan. 22, 1920, issue of the Wolf Point Herald encourages local business and homeowners to apply for and buy “metal numerals” for their buildings “as a first step towards securing free delivery of mail.”

The June 10, 1926, issue discusses the building of a new service station which will “make an attractive beauty spot on Main street.”

The digitization of the Wolf Point Herald was completed as part of the Montana Historical Society’s 2018 NDNP grant. The National Digital Newspaper Program is a national project funded through the National Endowment for the Humanities with the newspapers hosted online by the Library of Congress.
