Lustre Girls Defeat MonDak
After a bit of a slow start, Lustre Christian High’s girls’ basketball team was impressive in a 55-33 win over Mon-Dak at the Class C tip-off tournament in Glasgow on Friday, Dec. 1.
Trailing 8-4, the Lions struck for the final 10 points of the first quarter on four points by Grace Brown, four points by Kencia Brown and a basket off a rebound by Aubri Holzrichter.
A hoop by Alexa Reddig increased Lustre’s lead to 16-8 at the start of the second quarter.
After a three-pointer by the Thunder, the Lions ran off eight straight points on a drive by G. Brown, a layup by A. Holzrichter off a steal by Lauryn Holzrichter and two steals and drives by eighth-grader K. Brown.
A coast-to-coast drive by K. Brown and a fast-break basket by Lauren Fast helped the Lions earn a 30-20 advantage at intermission.
L. Holzrichter opened the third quarter with five points including a three-pointer.
A 14-footer by Reddig and five points by Fast increased the gap to 44-23 at the end of the third quarter.
G. Brown led the Lions with 13 points. Reaching double figures with 10 points each were A. Holzrichter and K. Brown.
Also scoring for Lustre were Fast with nine, L. Holzrichter with five, Reddig with four, Jaden Gibson with two and Hannah Brown with two points.
