Lustre Girls Battle Back To Edge Circle In Conference Contest
Lustre struck for the first 12 points of the fourth quarter to score a 47-45 conference victory over Circle in girls’ basketball action on Saturday, Feb. 3.
A three-pointer by Emma Murphy put the Wildcats up 39-35 to end the third quarter.
The Lions opened the fourth quarter with a 14-footer by Alexa Reddig and a basket off a rebound by Aubri Holzrichter for a 39-39 deadlock. A nice inside move by Grace Brown put Lustre up 41-39 with 6:16 remaining.
Kencia Brown then stole a ball and went coast to coast to put the Lions ahead by four points.
A pull-up jumper by Reddig and another hoop by G. Brown produced a 47-39 lead with 4:45 left.
Circle’s Madeline Moline hit a three-pointer to pull the Wildcats to 47-44 with 51 seconds remaining.
The Wildcats couldn’t get any closer until Laura Guldborg hit a free throw with just three seconds left.
Lustre’s top scorers were K. Brown with 15 and Reddig with 12 points.
Also scoring were Holzrichter with eight, G. Brown with seven, Hannah Brown with three and Lauren Fast with two points.
Leading Circle were Madeline Moline with 16 and Emma Murphy with 13 points.
