Stafne Says Film Played Role In His Life

Watching a film changed the young life of Wolf Point High School senior Cade Stafne in a positive way.

He viewed the film Thunderstruck where a boy magically obtains the basketball skills of NBA star Kevin Durant. After enjoying the story, Stafne wanted to be a basketball standout.

Stafne said he really didn’t become a good basketball player until his junior year. It helped that he grew two or three inches between his sophomore and junior years. He now stands at 6-4.

“I just stayed in the gym and worked on my shot and I lifted some weights,” Stafne said.

His junior season was highlighted when he hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Wolves to victory in the opening round of the Class B state tournament.

“I was just focused on the game,” Stafne remembers about the play. “Juliun (Benson) kicked it out and I shot it. I had full confidence in it.”

Stafne’s hobbies include watching NBA basketball games especially the Golden State Warriors.

His favorite class is cardio. Stafne’s favorite teacher is Frank Benson.

After high school, Stafne hopes to attend Haskell Indian Nations University in Kansas. He hopes to play basketball at the school.
