Checklist For Tribal Members Experiencing Loss
The Fort Peck Tribes have issued a checklist for tribal members experiencing the loss of a loved one.
Items include reminders to contact Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel for arraignments; the Tribes for funeral expenses (contact Paula Rankin or Presley Sears), Individual Indian Money/Bureau of Trust Funds Administration/ Probates, West Electronics (headstone), Friesen’s Floral & Greenhouse and any food providers.
The checklist recommends that tribal members find out if their loved one had a will, designate a point of contact, inquire about officiators from church, friends and/or family and coordinate photos, music and video for services.
Don’t forget to take time to grieve and process your loss.

Free Indian wills are available through from the Montana Legal Services Association, including power of attorney documents and forms to outline advance healthcare directives.
