Dethman, Wilson, Berwick Selected All-State
Froid/Lake’s Mason Dethman, Bainville’s Elsie Wilson and Bainville’s Hailey Berwick are among the District 2C basketball players who earned All-State honors this season.
Dethman, a senior, is threetime All-State selection on the boys’ side. He led the Red Hawks to a fourth-place showing at this year’s Eastern C divisional tournament. During his career, he has played in two state tournaments including one state championship game.
Wilson, a junior, and Berwick, a sophomore, led Bainville to a first-place finish during the regular season. The Bulldogs earned second at the district tournament and fourth at the divisional tourney. Wilson was voted All-Conference and Berwick was a second-team pick last year.
Other All-State selections from District 2C were Plentywood’s junior Carson Solberg and Savage’s junior Sayer Erickson on the boys’ side and Plentywood’s junior Mallory Tommerup for the girls’ team.
The District 2C boys’ all-conference team featured Dethman, Solberg, Erickson, Savage’s junior Hunter Sanders, Froid/Lake’s senior Nate Stentoft, Bainville’s senior Charles Butikofer, Plentywood’s junior Chance Klein and Savage’s junior Zane Pilgeram.
Voted to the second team were Culbertson’s junior Bridger Salvevold, Bainville’s senior Samuel Butikofer, Savage’s senior Cole Tombre, Plentywood’s senior Noah Murray, Brockton’s freshman Jarid Fast Horse, Bainville’s senior Samuel Butikofer, Richey/Lambert’s senior Austin Lien, MonDak’s junior Thomas Arnson and Plentywood’s sophomore Landon Flickinger.
Selected to the all-defensive first team were Dethman, Plentywood’s junior Ben Hagan, Savage’s Pilgeram and Plentywood’s Solberg.
Picked for the defensive second team were Culbertson’s senior Donte Eagle Boy, Tombre, Froid/Lake’s senior Daniel Forizs and Brockton’s sophomore Josh Firemoon.
All-Conference selections for the girls included Wilson, Berwick, Tommerup, Plentywood’s senior Paityn Curtiss, Richey/Lambert’s junior Keira Rains, Froid/Lake’s junior Brooklyn Nordwick, Culbertson’s senior Destiny Thompson and Plentywood’s senior Audrey Sampsen.
Second team selections included Froid/Lake’s junior Mara Salvevold, Bainville’s junior Miah Pippenger, Savage’s senior Brooke Reuter, MonDak’s sophomore Abby Lowes, Richey/Lambert’s freshman Jolee Klempel, Brockton’s sophomore Tamryn Bauer, Richey/Lambert’s senior Shaelynn Williams and Savage’s senior Karley McPherson.
Voted to the all-defensive first team were Wilson, Salvevold, Tommerup and Sampsen.
The second team all-defensive picks were Thompson, Berwick, Reuter and Williams.
