Red Hawks Look For Strong Finishes During Track Campaign

The Froid/Lake Red Hawks have 19 athletes including four senior boys out for track this season.

Seniors on the squad are Mason Dethman, Cian Logan, Daniel Forizs and Nate Stentoft.

Dethman enjoyed an excellent junior track season for the Red Hawks as he placed fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 100 at the Class C state meet. He also qualified for the state meet in the shot put, Forizs and Dethman were members of the 400-meter relay team that finished fifth at the state meet with a schoolrecord time. Logan qualified for the state meet in the discus last season.

The junior class features an athletic three competitors with Joseph Robertson, Mara Salvevold and Roberto Orozco looking for good years.

Robertson placed at last season’s divisional meet in the 800 and 1600.

Sophomores out for track include Cody Olson, Owen Logan, Briar Grainger, Vala Gregor and Samantha Austin.

Volleyball and girls’ basketball starter Isabelle Nordwick is one of seven freshmen on the track squad. Other freshmen participants include Rylan Young, Eddy Orozco, Jordyn Breuer, Leah Murray, Bennen Roseleip and Kaj Jensen.

The Red Hawks are scheduled to compete at the Glasgow Invitational on Friday, March 29.

Froid/Lake is coached by Alan Engelke and Julie Sinn.

The district meet is scheduled for Tuesday, May 7, in Lambert.

The divisional meet takes place on Thursday, May 16, in Wolf Point.

The Class C state meet is May 23-25 in Great Falls.
