TEB Approves Juvenile Detention Contracts, Reopens Bird Season To Non-Tribal Members

The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held its regular meeting Monday, April 8. During the education period, the board voted to authorize Tribal correspondence and documents related to the ANA Native Language Preservation and Maintenance Grant Application.

The board also approved free hunting and fishing licenses for all medical professionals who work on the Fort Peck Reservation. Bird hunting season was also reopened.

Trudy Bird was approved for promotion to daycare manager at $28.78 per hour.

Board member Stacey Summers was replaced on the Fort Peck Inc. board by Roxanne Gourneau.

Board member Dana Buckles was approved as Oswego’s community Fish & Game Commissioner until the position can be filled.

Dyan Youpee was appointed to represent the Fort Peck Tribes on the Montana Historical Society board.

Randy Redpath saw his resignation from the position of chief financial officer rescinded for a period of 15 months.

Miles Lilley was approved to clean the six west-end cemeteries at $1,500 each.

General counsel fees amounting to approximately $24,000 were approved for Sonosky & Chambers.

The current contract with Century Companies, Inc., was modified to include Poplar Medicine Bear Walking Path, Poplar East paving and BIA Route 20/26 seal and striping in the amount of $954.668.20.

The Department of Law & Justice was approved to submit a grant application related to Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act.

Letters of resignation were accepted from courts employees David Mrgudich and Marvin Youpee Jr.

The board declared an interest in two housing units located at 514 Cascade St. and 513 Johnson St. in Wolf Point. Appraisals have been authorized.

A one-year contract renewal for third-party billing consultant Amber Terry was authorized.

Contracts were approved with Cascade and Rosebud counties to “hold our juveniles as long as needed,” according to the resolution log.

Newfield’s purpose phase 1 environmental site assessment estimate of $10,057.50 was approved, as was the transfer of a FEMA trailer to the Tribal Health Department from the Community Services Program.

Paul Four Bear was promoted from a temporary appointment with the Branch of Corrections to a permanent position.

The next full board meeting is set for April 22 in Poplar.
