Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office reported the following activity over the past two weeks: April 16
At 10:38 a.m., a deputy responded to the town of Froid for a report of a domestic disturbance. An adult male and female had had a verbal altercation the night before. The deputy advised the pair to stay away from each other. No arrests were made.
At 4:10 p.m., a female walked into the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office asking for assistance at a Wolf Point residence in the West Housing area. Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice and the deputy investigated the incident. No arrests were made.
At 5:30 p.m., a report of eight panhandlers congregating around Main Street Grocery in Poplar was received. The report alleged that one of the panhandlers had a weapon. Deputies responded and investigated, but found no weapon. The group was told to leave the area and they complied.
At 5:40 p.m., a deputy responded to TJ’s Quick Stop in Poplar to assist the FPTDLJ with a report of an assault by an adult female. No visible bruising was observed. Law enforcement advised the two to stay away from each other.
April 17
At 1 p.m., there was a report of property damage to a Montana Department of Transportation sign suspended over the roadway in Culbertson. A farmer had struck the sign with equipment. MDT was notified and a report was take for insurance purposes.
At 5 p.m., deputies received a report of gunshots near a camper in the trees by Fort Peck Auto in Wolf Point. Deputies, assisted by the Wolf Point Police Department, were unable to find any signs of gunshots.
April 18
At 10:10 a.m., deputies responded to County Road 1002 near Bainville two miles north of U.S. Highway 2 to a report by a county road worker that someone was driving aggressively and had flipped the worker off while he was grading the gravel road. The incident was investigated and turned over to the county attorney for possible charges.
At 9:30 p.m., deputies assisted the FPTDLJ at the Wolf Point hospital with a male patient who refused to leave. The male was eventually convinced to leave and was transported home.
At 11 p.m., a citizen in Fort Kipp thought they heard gunshots. FPTDLJ and RCSO deputies responded to the area and located a group of people who had lit off fireworks.
April 19
Deputies responded to Fort Kipp at 5 p.m. for a report of domestic violence. An adult female stated that she and an adult male had argued and he had taken off in a vehicle. FPTDLJ later located the male and arrested him for partner/family member assault.
At 10:30 p.m., deputies responded to a call for assistance from a bartender at work on the 100 block of Third Avenue South. She reported that a male had taken her car keys and wouldn’t return them. Law enforcement assisted in getting the keys back.
April 20
At 12:40 a.m., an adult female in the West Housing area of Wolf Point reported that her son was trying to fight everyone. The male was removed and given a ride elsewhere.
At 4 a.m., a deputy responded to the north side of Wolf Point to a call by an anonymous person who stated that an adult male had threatened suicide. The deputy checked on the male and determined everything was ok.
At 7:30 a.m., deputies were advised of a burglary at the Albertsons store in Wolf Point. A freezer had been broken into at the location and an undetermined amount of frozen food was stolen. Security camera footage was obtained and the incident is under investigation.
At 10:30 p.m., law enforcement was called to the West Housing area of Wolf Point for a report of an adult female who stated her boyfriend had assaulted her in front of her children. The male had fled the area. The incident remains under investigation by the FPTDLJ.
April 21
At 11 p.m., deputies assisted the FPTDLJ in Poplar. A woman reported that someone was pounding on her door and trying to break in.
April 22
While doing security checks on Wolf Point business doors at 1:40 a.m., an open door at one of the marijuana dispensaries was discovered. Fort Peck Tribal Security assisted the deputy. The owners were notified and the business was secured.
