Colvin Receives Rising Star Award
Brockton School District elementary school librarian Leona Colvin received a Rising Star Award from University of Montana-Western’s Education Department in April. The award is given to a select group of UM Western students for academic excellence, dedication to teaching and exceptional promise as a rising star in education.
“Leona is becoming a dynamic educational force,” said Dr. Joshua Patterson, Superintendent of Schools for Brockton School District. “She is fueled by her passion for reading and her desire to ignite that same spark in our elementary students. She is committed to student growth and is making a lasting impact on the lives of our Brockton youth with her enthusiasm for literacy and learning. We are grateful for all of her efforts.”
The award came with trophy and a cash prize, which Colvin intends to use to purchase much-needed books for the elementary library.
