Commissioners Approve Salary Increases For Year

The Roosevelt County commissioners approved salary increases for elected officials and regular county employees during their meeting held on Monday, June 10.

Based on the recommendation of the compensation board, a pay increase of $2,075 to the elected official base for fiscal year 2024-2025 was approved. Commissioners said the increase is in line with the 3 percent negotiated for the union pay increase for fiscal year 20242025.

With the increase, the clerk and recorder’s salary will be $71,237.

Commissioners also approved a 3 percent salary increase for others county employees.

“The budget can handle it,” Commissioners Gordon Oelkers said.

Also during the meeting, commissioners approved the transferring of $37,037 in entitlements from the Culbertson airport to the Poplar airport.

Commissioners explained that all airports receive entitlements, but the entitlements expire after five years. Each year, one airport transfers funds to another airport in the county when needed. Oelkers said that the Culbertson airport will receive funds from other airports next year.

“So, it’s a wash,” Oelkers said. Commissioners approved $3,876 to have Midco Diving and Marine Services perform water tank maintenance in Brockton. The work is supposed to be done every five years.

Commissioners accept the resignations of two Department of Aging employees.
