Tribes Approve Construction Bids

The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board held their regular full board meeting June 10 in Poplar. The board voted to approve the award of $130,000 to Interstate Engineering to develop complete and provide the Fort Peck Tribes with the Poplar Parks Project design and construction services.

The board also approved Site Pro Construction for work for on the Tribal courts project for concrete paving, valley gutter and other items, plus contingencies.

Bids were also accepted from D& M for $36,800, BP Construction for $88,500, Culbertson Plumbing for $46,000, Sand Electric for $84,900, W-5 Services for $27,050 and W-5 Services for $31,450 for the construction for the Poplar Youth Feeding Building projects.

The board also accepted the following bids for the Wolf Point Youth Feeding Building project: D& M Construction for $25,200, Moonlight Concrete for $38,370, Culbertson Plumbing for $45,000, Sand Electric for $75,600, W-5 Services for $35,250 and W-5 Services for $28,450.

Bids were accepted from Bishop Inc. for the Frazer Sewer Project in the amount of $400,710.

During Health and Human Services, the board approved the HPDP program to hire summer interns at $15 per hour. The tribal operations officer secretary accountant was approved to disburse payment to Sonosky Chambers for the general counsel in the amount of $24,577.94 and health program contract in the amount of $1,533.61, for services rendered for the month of March.

The board approved a recruitment/ retention bonus to Austin Spotted Bird in the amount of $2,000 for being a licensed mosquito’s abatement operator.

A task order was approved at a cost of $347,000 for Interstate Engineering to develop, complete and provide the Fort Peck Tribes with the aforementioned “Poplar Housing Infrastructure” which covers a preliminary investigation topographic report.

The Fort Peck Tribal Housing Authority was approved as the sole authority to prepare and submit the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development a fiscal year 2024 Indian Community Development Block Grant Application for the total amount $2,000,000 on behalf of the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes.

A request from the Frazer Town Council to name the new community hall in memory of Freda Fourstar “Omok’ce,” “One with many children,” was approved.

The Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board is the duly elected body representing the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Reservation and is empowered to act on behalf of the Tribes. The next full board meeting is set for June 24.
