Flag Day Celebration

Milk River Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, presented Flag Day Certificates to area businesses on Friday, June 14. In 1916, President Woodrow Wilson issued a presidential proclamation that designated June 14 as Flag Day. On Aug. 3, 1949, National Flag Day was officially established by an Act of Congress. The week of June 9-16 was designated as Flag week. American citizens are encouraged to fly your flag every day but especially during Flag week. Pictured are, from left Chapter Regent, Joy Linn, Chapter Vice-Regent, Melissa Ancell and Chapter Librarian, Leila Seyfert gave out approximately 100 certificates to businesses in Glasgow, Hinsdale, Saco and Malta.
