Culbertson School Board Approves Teacher, Coaching Hires
The Culbertson School Board met in regular session on Tuesday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m. Trustees present were Chris Petersen (vice-chair), Wendy Becker, Amber Fox and Lisa Steppler. Others present were superintendent Nicole Simonsen, principal Mike Olson and district clerk Lora Finnicum.
Reports were presented. Grades K-5 participated in the new reading program training and will be gearing up for implementation in the fall.
Wendy Becker made motion to approve the budget amendment resolution for the elementary general fund for $402,000, the high school general fund for $148,000 and the elementary flex fund for $131,536.84. Lisa Steppler seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
Kelly Evenson was approved for hire as elementary teacher and Shelby Manning as family consumer science teacher for the school year 2024-25.
Trustees discussed possibility of adding German as a part-time language offering. Lisa Steppler made motion to advertise for a part-time foreign language teacher position. The schedule would allow for up to two periods. A junior high option would remain virtual for the time being.
The June 30 audit report was approved. No audit findings reported.
Becker made a motion to hire weight room supervisors Shelby Manning, Brian Manning, Tiffany Nielsen and Brad Nielsen. The motion carried.
Jimie Lou Morris was approved as head high school golf coach; Eddie Morris as assistant high school golf coach; Dave Solem as head high school track coach; Mike Olson and Logan Nickoloff as assistant high school track coaches; Terri Sansaver as head junior high/elementary track coach; Steve Baldwin, Matthew Ellerton and Abbey Granbois as assistant junior high/elementary track coaches for the 2024-25 School Year.
Guest teacher pay of $100 for non-certified and $125 for certified was approved.
The Professional Growth Allocation of $5,000 for FY2024-25 was approved. Individual allocation will be increased from $500 to $800.
An athletic committee meeting will be scheduled to develop a self-evaluation tool.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m.
