WPCO Celebration Planned Thursday
The Wolf Point Community Organization is hosting a traditional oskade celebration at the Wadopana Grounds behind the Sherman Inn Thursday, July 11. WPCO chair Holly Hamilton said that the event keeps growing and it’s possible that it will turn into a two-day celebration next year.
The celebration will include a petting zoo and horses sponsored by the Fort Peck Community College’s agriculture department and Spotted Bull Recovery Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided for lunch.
A community feed is scheduled for that day beginning at 5 p.m.
In addition, vendors and food stands are welcomed to participate at the event.
The powwow will have its grand entry at 7 p.m.
Financial prizes will be given for men’s all categories, women’s all categories, teen boys’ all categories, teen girls’ all categories, junior boys’ all categories and junior girls’ all categories.
Patrick Okute’ Sica’ Ricker will serve as announce. Zane Sibley is the arena director.
Security will be on the grounds. No drugs or alcohol are allowed.
The WPCO Oskade was approved as a recognized powwow with equal distribution of funds at the June 24 Tribal Executive Board meeting.
