The Maxwell Butte Ranch of Powderville captured top honors during the Wild Horse Ranch Rodeo held at the Marvin Brookman Stadium on Wednesday, July 10.

The Maxwell team featuring Lane Krutzfeldt, Cole Trexler, Coby King and Kyler Erickson earned $10,000 and buckle by winning the title.

Placing second and winning $6,000 was the Steppler Ranch Team of Culbertson consisting of Alex Munoz, Ruben Munoz, James Gorman and Wayne DeWitt.

The Whiteman Cattle Company of Richey took third and earned $4,000. Team members were Lee Whiteman, Ryan Smith, Jordan DeSaye and Tanner Solberg.

Event winners were Flying H Cattle for branding, Steppler Ranch for stray gather/ doctoring and step-on bronc riding and Maxwell Butte for trailer loading and wild cow milking, Tanner Solberg won a bronc rein donated by James Gorman and $50 for bronc wildest ride.

Lane Kevein won the top hand award and received Kerry Kelly spurs.

The top horse award went to Lane Krutzfeldt. He received a breast collar sponsored by Jack and Christy Stensland and a horse care package donated by CHS.

A special event this year was the Milk ‘em for a Cause challenge. Matt Sansaver, Phil Sievers and Tyson Tjon attempted to milk a cow with a two-minute time limit. This year’s recipient of the challenge was the Jessica Sietsema family. The community raised more than $5,000 to help the Sietsema family pay for medical costs.
