Bulls Drop Tournament Contests

The Post #49 Bulls struggled against strong teams at the First State Bank and Trust Classic in Williston, N.D., during the weekend.

The Bulls fells to the Burlington, N.D. Bulldogs, 15-0, in the first game of the American Legion baseball tournament. Burlington accounted for 11 of its runs in the first inning.

Having the Bulls’ two hits were Henry Kukowski and Plenny Williams.

Post #49 then lost a tough 5-4 decision against the Williston Oilers on Friday, July 12.

The Oilers struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning for the victory.

Alex Moreno doubled and scored for the Bulls in the third inning. Behind by a 2-1 margin, the Bulls grabbed the lead with two runs in the top of the sixth when Logan Brown crossed on a sacrifice fly by Ty Leischner, and Mitchell Brown scored on a hit by Preston Swenson.

With the game deadlocked at 3-3, the Bulls moved ahead L. Brown singled and went on to score on a passed ball Swenson led the Bulls with three hits. L. Brown and M. Brown added two hits each. One of M. Brown’s hits was a double.

The Bulls then lost to Devils Lake, N.D., by a 13-5 final on Saturday, July 13. The Bulls led 5-1 until the Storm struck for 12 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

P. Williams accounted for three of the Bulls’ six hits. He had three runs batted in and scored two runs.

In the tournament’s seventh- place game, the Bulls fell by a 6-5 margin against the Bismarck, N.D. Scarlets on Sunday, July 14.

The Bulls will play at the Billings Expos’ Invitational this weekend.
