The Wolf Point swimming pool has been a busy place this summer, and new pool manager Tiffani Darby has liked all of the activity.

“I’ve enjoyed teaching swim lessons and being around all the kids every day,” Darby said.

A difference this summer is that Wolf Point is using the American Red Cross’ full lesson program. The process included having the pool being registered with the American Red Cross.

“That’s where I got my training through,” Darby explained.

Instruction has ranged from parents/ child lessons for as young as 2 years old to level three for 10-14 year olds.

There were 31 swimmers during the first session of lessons. When the second session started Monday, July 22, more than 50 swimmers were involved.

Because of the increase regarding the number of swim lessons, hours for open swim needed to be adjusted. Open swim is available from 12:15-2:45 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, and 7-8:45 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays. The pool is open from noon to 4:45 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The final day for the pool is scheduled to be Sunday, Aug. 11.

Darby notes that a full crew of 11 lifeguards have resulted in the success at the Wolf Point pool this summer.

“I’m very grateful,” Darby said. “I started recruiting back in the spring, so hopefully I wasn’t going to be short.”

She said the most busy days of the pool came during the Fourth of July week when between 115-125 individuals took advantage of using the facility.

Darby said she’s glad that former pool manager Mandi Campbell urged her to take on the duties.

“Mandi put a bug in my ear,” Darby said. “It’s been a lot of fun.”
