Recent Wolf Point High School graduate Lennoxx Lilley is one area resident that is looking forward to voting in this year’s general election.

Lilley, who just turned 18 last week, wasn’t able to vote in this year’s primary election, so he’s even more anxious about casting a vote this November.

“It’s going to be a very exciting time,” Lilley said.

He is currently featured on a local display by Western Native Voice with the goal of encouraging people to vote. He explained that his mother, Imogene, helped made the arrangements for the photos.

Lennoxx laughed that he thought the photo was going to be much smaller than what he saw for the first time when he drove to the display located near McDonald’s in Wolf Point.

“I was really surprised,” Lilley said. “I thought it was just going to be like a poster around town.”

Also featured on the display are Louise Smith and Danni Gonzales.

The information under Lilley’s photo includes, “My voice will echo through generations.”

The poster encourages voting registration and stresses the importance of Natives Americans voting. “Vote today to shape tomorrow; your voice empowers future generations.”

Lilley, who will attend Dickinson State University to study biology and education, seems to understand the importance of voting.

“It’s really important for Native Americans to vote,” he said. “If they do vote, they can make a big impact.”

He noted that both of his parents, Perry and Imogene, have stressed the importance of casting your vote.

“Once I get old enough, voting is something that is very important instead of sitting around and not doing anything,” Lennoxx said.
