Mission Team Gives Building Fresh Look
As part of their community service outreach, a team from Mosaic Church in Littleton, Colo., made the Wolf Point community a little more beautiful last week.
The volunteers, in the area for the Gospel Fellowship Church’s Bible school, painted over graffiti and put a fresh look on the food pantry building during their time in eastern Montana.
John Jones, who was painting on the east wall with Reece Leafblad, said that they got the graffiti covered up on Monday, July 22, and were doing final work on Tuesday, July 23. “Now, we’re trying to make it even.” The project covered three sides of the building.
This was the group’s second consecutive year in Wolf Point to volunteer at Gospel Fellowship’s Bible School. They are members of the Mosaic Church in Littleton, Colo., where Gospel Fellowship’s Pastor Mike Andrews and his wife, Diane, served before coming to Wolf Point. “About six years ago, they were called up here,” Jones said.
Other community service work in Wolf Point included a coat and hat drive and moving lawns.
“I’m just here to do what they tell me to do,” Jones laughed.
He noted it’s a positive experience for himself and his family that includes five children.
“It’s a great opportunity to introduce our kids to serving,” he added.
Volunteer painters Martha Cercy and Anni Cusack were also delighted to be part of the mission trip.
“I feel that I’m making a little difference in people’s lives,” Cusack said.
This was Cusack’s first time in Wolf Point while Cercy also made the trip last year. They plan to return in the future.
“You can see the love and joy of people, who have a lot less than we do,” Cercy said. “Material things don’t matter.”
The women said they love the people of Wolf Point and appreciate Pastor Mike and Diane Andrews.
More than 60 students attended the first night of the Bible school.
“If we can make a difference in one of their lives, that’s what our goal is,” Cercy said. “Jesus made a difference in person at a time.”
