Plenty of fun and recognition are in store during the Roosevelt County Fair in Culbertson on Wednesday, Aug. 7, through Saturday, Aug. 10.

One of the highlights during the week promises to be a free concert featuring Adam Calvert on Friday, Aug. 9, starting at about 7 p.m.

According to the singer’s website, Calvert is a name quickly rising to prominence in the Nashville country music scene as an independent artist. He holds the titles of Vocalist of the Year, Rising Star of the Year and Singles of the year from the Josie Music Awards.

During 2023, Calvert performed in 200 live shows across 35 different states. He has shared the stage with performers such as HARDY, Joe Nichols, Lonestar, Neil McCoy, Phil Vassar, Parmalee, Canaan Smith, Jon Langston and Cooper Alan.

People can enjoy a family fun night on Wednesday, Aug. 7, which includes a small animal show, kids’ farmers market, money in the straw, a youth barn dance and tournament.

On the schedule for Thursday, Aug. 8, are a goat and sheep show, corn feed and FFA barbecue, shorty dog races, stick horse and inflatable rodeo and a farmers market. Pattycakes the Clown will have a stage show at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Pattycakes the Clown has been a professional clown since 2003 and a member with the Clowns of America international. Pattycakes the Clown has something for everyone. He amazes audiences with magic, juggling, unicycling, stilt walking, and even balancing objects on his chin!

A free corn free and the FFA alumni scholarship barbecue will begin at 5:30 p.m. Cost for the scholarship barbecue is $15.

Organizers with the Roosevelt County Fair have announced a car and tractor show for Thursday, Aug. 8. The event will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Categories include vintage cars, people’s choice and antique tractors.

Activities on Friday will include the 4-H/FFA livestock auction at 6 p.m., the parade of exhibits to the Roosevelt Medical Center’s patio at 2:30 p.m., swine and cattle show at 8:30 a.m., and the round robin showmanship at 4 p.m.

The Culbertson Chamber of Commerce will provide a free meal starting at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The ranch rodeo calcutta will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, at the saddle club.

This year’s theme for the fair is, “Preserving Our past, Building Our Future.”
