Fair Participants Should Be Commended
Editorial
There are many reasons to be impressed with the students of Roosevelt County. Individuals excel in various areas such as in academics, athletics and through other club organizations.
One can’t help but being grateful of these young people when viewing activities at the Roosevelt County Fair. Watching the younger children show off their chickens, rabbits, dogs and even cats during the small animal competitions was entertaining to watch. These participants answered questions from the judges carefully and certainly were proud of their particular animals.
The hard work and dedication of those showing steers, hogs, sheep and goat should definitely be admired. As I visited the farms prior to the fair where Elsie and Rowan Wilson and Kaden and Kalia Featherston were raising their animals, their commitment was impressive. I know these students are very involved in a variety of school activities, so their ability of being able to manage their time and schedules should be commended.
One of the things that I greatly enjoyed was the smiles on the faces of many students during the livestock sale. It was a feeling of accomplishment for them to finish a long and challenging adventure.
The involvement showed by area businesses and families by bidding on their animals clearly told the students it was a job well done. The financial support displayed unquestionably is a sign of how much the communities care about their young people.
Salutes should also be given to the adult leaders, volunteers and judges who make the 4-H and FFA programs as successful as they are. The lessons that they share will live on for years to come as the students become young adults and probably soon take on volunteering roles of their own.
