Brockton Runners Working To Earn Honors This Season
An impressive turnout has the Brockton cross country program confident of a positive season and future.
The girls’ high school squad features Braelynn DeMarrias, Taylor Cummins, Tamryn Bauer, Marlene Fish, Jade Olney, Taiya Fish, Claire Clampit, Reese DeCoteau and RayKira Track. Middle school girls are Maddie Fish, Skylar Cummins and Raven Baker.
“Our girls should be good,” Coach Evan Cummins said. “We expect a full team of seven for the state meet.”
The coach noted that several of the girls ran a lot during the summer. Three girls even competed at the Big Sky State Games. DeMarrias earned a bronze medal in her age division and Skylar Cummins won a silver medal in her age division.
The hope is that Brockton’s girls can finish in the top five for the team standings at the Class C state meet.
Brockton’s boys’ team features Miles Boxer, Joshua Firemoon and Charlie Firemoon.
“I think Miles and Josh can certainly be All-State,” Coach Cummins said.
Best times for them last season were Boxer at 18:34 and J. Firemoon at 18:56.
“We’re hoping to get down to the 17’s,” Coach Cummins said. “They are at a good starting point this year.”
