Poplar Football Squad Enters Season With New Coach
Poplar’s football squad looks for a more successful season than in the past few years.
Jason Brock, who has eight years of football coaching experience in Wolf Point, is starting his first season as Poplar’s head coach.
“We are starting fresh this season and looking forward,” Brock said. “My goal is to establish a foundation of hard work and pride.”
The Indians have a turnout of 19 athletes. “So far this season, the young men are answering the call,” Brock said. “My expectations are to develop our program and give the young men a chance to play the game the right way. Wins or losses, we will grow as a team this season.”
The coach is pleased with the opportunity of putting in a new structure with an eager group of players.
“It’s a great situation,” he said. “I’m very enthusiastic about these young men.”
Poplar will open its season at defending state champion Fairview on Thursday, Aug. 29.
“The coaching staff is working well and sharing ideas,” Brock said. “We all have the same team goals as a staff so we all do our parts to help these young men get better and stronger.”
