Fort Buford Infantry Re-prints Innis’s Book

A re-printing of Sagas of the Smoky Water: True Stories Reflecting Historical Aspects of the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Region, 1805-1910 by Wolf Point’s Ben Innis was announced this month. The book’s availability is due to efforts from The Fort Buford Sixth Infantry Regimental Association, the Innis family and Friends of Fort Union/ Buford.

Originally published to celebrate Williston’s Centennial in 1987, Sagas takes readers on a journey through the Missouri- Yellowstone Confluence region. The new printing includes a new foreword by Ben Innis’s wife, Jane.

Ben Innis Jr. was born in Wolf Point in 1920, Innis founded the Fort Buford Sixth Infantry Regimental Association in 1962 and later organized the Fort Union-Fort Buford Council. He also worked to place Fort Union Trading Post in the National Park System.
