Bulldogs Edge Froid/Lake Squad

 

The Bainville Bulldogs fought off Froid/Lake in a tight conference volleyball match on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Bainville earned the home victory by a 25-20, 28-26, 2518, final.

The Bulldogs gained leads on 19-12 and 22-15 in the first set on kills by Elsie Wilson.

Froid/Lake closed the gap to 23-19 on a spike by Isabelle Nordwick, but Bainville held on for the 25-20 win.

Bainville trailed by a 2218 margin in the second set until striking for six straight points on two kills by Miah Pippenger, two kills by Wilson and a serve by Addison Hansen to take a 24-22 lead.

With the Bulldogs ahead 24-23, the Red Hawks tallied the next three points including a strong serve by Avery Johnson and a kill by I. Nordwick.

The Red Hawks led 26-25 when Bainville ran off the last three points of the second set on a kill by Wilson and a kill and block by Hailey Berwick.

The third set was even at 15-15 before the Bulldogs went ahead on Lila Butikofer’s service. Berwick scored a kill and an ace for a 20-16 lead.

After a kill by Froid/Lake’s Joelle Davidson cut the gap to 20-17, the Bulldogs took control with two kills and a block by Wilson.

Wilson finished with 10 kills, two blocks and 15 digs.

Berwick had 16 kills, two aces and 15 digs.

Butikofer accounted for 21 assists, 10 digs and a block.

Brooklyn Nordwick finished with three aces, two kills, a block and three digs for Froid/Lake.

Mara Salvevold accounted for an ace, four kills, six blocks and two digs.

Addison Elvsaas served an ace and had 12 assists.

I. Nordwick scored seven kills and six blocks. Davidson had a kill, two blocks and a dig.

Jordyn Breuer had a block. Johnson finished with three digs and Alexa Nelson had two digs.
