Tuesday, Oct. 4, saw 140 local students attend a career day function at C& B Operations in Culbertson. The event included opportunities for students to test drive large farm machinery and implements, as well as other large vehicles and heavy machinery and participate in games designed to develop related skills.

Culbertson had 75 students attend the event, with groups attending from Froid, Medicine Lake and Bainville schools, C& B’s regional aftermarket manager Carl Donaldson told the Community News that similar events will likely be organized again next year. “It gave them a chance to see what a John Deere tech experiences,” he said. “I look forward to future events,” he added, “at least one more in Culbertson next year.”

Montana Chamber Foundation Empowered Ambassador Mary Machart said multiple groups worked together to host the schools. “The collaboration between C& B, RDO and the Montana Chamber Foundation provided an opportunity for northeast Montana students to have a hands on-real life experience in an outside classroom,” Machart said. Donaldson said colleagues from RDO in Williston, N.D., were also in attendance.

Machart said the event showed the potential for the wider community to work together. “The day also showed what can happen when community members and local businesses work together to provide opportunities for growth mindset experiences,” said Machart.
