Wolves Drop Close Home Match Against Fairview
Wolf Point battled a solid Fairview volleyball squad head to head before coming up short in three sets at home on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Warriors came away with a 25-17, 25-20, 25-15, victory.
In the first set, the Wolves pulled to a 9-9 deadlock on kills by Ma’Kenzie Jackson and Lauren Rodenberg.
After Fairview moved ahead on kills by Carly Buxbaum, Karmyn Plain Feather served an ace for a 15-15 tie. A kill by Kashlyn Speak Thunder kept the Wolves close, but Fairview moved ahead to a 22-17 lead on the powerful net play of 5-11 junior Macy Tjelde.
Two more kills by Tjelde down the stretch produced the 25-17 final.
The Wolves fought back to 11-10 in the second set on kills by senior Keeley Blount-Henderson. Rodenberg then served an ace for a 12-12 deadlock.
A block by Speak Thunder helped the Wolves gain a 1614 advantage. Speak Thunder later scored a kill for an 18-16 lead.
The score was even at 2020 until the Warriors tallied the final five points including two aces by Tjelde.
The ace serving of Speak Thunder led the Wolves to a quick 7-2 advantage in the third set. After Fairview pulled even, a block by Blount-Henderson put Wolf Point back into the lead.
Fairview gained a 16-10 until two kills by Speak Thunder cut the gap. After a kill by Isabelle Fry put Fairview up 19-14, Wolf Point scored on a kill by Jackson for a 1915 margin. The Warriors then pulled away on the serving of Gracelynn Free and net play of Tjelde.
Wolf Point’s JVs won their match in five sets. The Wolves took the final set by a 15-11 score.
Wolf Point opened its week falling in Scobey by a 19-25, 20-25, 23-25, final.
The Wolves will travel to Baker on Friday, Oct. 25, and then have their home finale against Glasgow on Saturday, Oct. 26.
