Free Public Screening Planned In Wolf Point

Western Native Voice is pleased to host a free public screening of the award-winning documentary Bring Them Home/Aiskótáhkapiyaaya at Prairie Cinema Theaters in Wolf Point on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. This special event will include free popcorn and pop for all attendees. Community members are encouraged to RSVP as space is limited.

Bring Them Home, a documentary feature by Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Ivan and Ivy MacDonald, in partnership with Thunderheart Films and The Redford Center, chronicles the Blackfoot Confederacy’s decades- long effort to return wild buffalo (iinnii) to the Blackfeet Reservation. This 85-minute film highlights the cultural and spiritual significance of buffalo to the Blackfeet people, their vital role in ecological restoration, and the challenges posed by modern ranching industries.

The film focuses on the tireless work of Ervin Carlson, director of the Blackfeet Buffalo Program, and Paulette Fox, co-creator of the Iinnii Initiative, as they collaborate with conservation groups to restore buffalo populations to their rightful place. Executive produced and narrated by Oscar-nominated actress Lily Gladstone, Bring Them Home won the prestigious Big Sky Award at the 2024 Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.

RSVP on Western Native Voice’s Facebook page or events calendar at westernnativevoice. org.

This screening offers a powerful and educational experience for all attendees, showcasing Indigenous-led conservation efforts and the cultural importance of buffalo to the Blackfeet people.
