House Candidate Visits Culbertson Council

The Culbertson Town Council held its regular meeting Oct. 14. Council member Carl Donaldson was absent. The council approved a total payment of $79,000 to Top Gun Asphalt for street repairs on the west side of town. A contract with BMS Pay to handle online payments for municipal services was also approved.

Jeremy Fadness with WWC Engineering provided a new set of plans for the pool bathhouse project for consideration.

A site sketch plan was approved for a home in the Wheatland Hills subdivision, as was a plan for a fence at 115 1st Street West.

A motion was passed approving a request from WWC Engineering to raise the town’s flood plain application fees to account for increased complexity in the process.

The purchase of a backhoe from RDO Equipment Co. was approved with the tradein of the town’s current backhoe.

George Johnson spoke to the council about issues with the road in front of his house on 2nd Ave. West. He cited issues with dust from the roadway and said the stop sign at the location isn’t doing an adequate job of slowing traffic. He was told that he would have to help pay for any paving projects.

Morgan Thiel spoke to the council about her candidacy for House District 30 representing Culbertson and Sidney. She asked about possible issues and concerns for the upcoming legislative session.

Minutes were approved for September, as were claims, the treasurer’s report and financials. The next meeting is set for Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall on Broadway Avenue.
