Bainville To Honor Lambert With Bench
The Bainville Town Council held its regular meeting Oct. 21 Mayor Toby Romo was present, as were Carol Rasmussen, Will Rathbun and John Gilligan, Billie Jo Cochran and guests Cora Norton, Darrel Rasmussen, David Norton and Mc-Cade Mahlen.
During public comment. McCade Mahlen from Interstate Engineering discussed a bench that Interstate Engineering will donate to the town park in honor of Lyle Lambert. Darrel Rasmussen inquired about the Local Government Study Committee, as he is the only individual who signed up to be on the committee.
David Norton stated the town’s pumper truck is due for a check.
The council requested Clerk Billie Jo Cochran contact the sheriff’s office regarding the town’s contract with them that states the sheriff’s office send a monthly report, as the town has not been receiving said report.
Gilligan mentioned that the Bainville Community Development Committee has funds available for the softball field. He also said the Independence Day celebration will be held on June 28.
Cora Norton applied for a building permit for a fence. After discussion, the council decided no permit or motion is required as the fence is portable.
Romo reported that the 2024-25 annual budget and annual financial report have both been submitted to the state.
Water loss was 420,266 gallons, or 30 percent, in September. Romo mentioned there was a major water leak that was located and repaired. Water loss should decrease next month, he said.
Bainville Concrete will not be able to install the new sidewalk in front of the park this year. They will be required to sign a contract stating that they will get in completed in the spring of 2025.
A request to release water rights for the water well on Dave Granley’s property was considered. The council discussed possibly keeping it for a backup water option. It will be on the November meeting agenda.
Minutes for the Sept. 9 meeting were approved, as were the treasurers report, cash balance report, YTD expense vs budget, YTD revenue vs budget and bank statements, utility billing, claims and JV for September, as well as payroll in the amount of $8,354.35.
The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Bainville Town Hall.
