Cowgirls Fall Short Against Wildcats

The Culbertson Cowgirls lost to Plentywood in their first match at the district tournament on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Plentywood won by a 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 25-14, final.

After dropping the first two sets, the Cowgirls trailed by a 20-19 margin in the third set. A kill by Emma Berwick pulled the Cowgirls into a tie.

Ahead by a 22-21 margin, Culbertson ended the third set on two hard serves by Ayden Ator and a kill by Berwick.

Plentywood jumped out to an 11-3 in the fourth set. Spikes by Ator and Berwick put the Cowgirls closer, but the Wildcats held a 16-10 advantage.

A kill by Mariana Burciaga and a serve by Ivy Colvin cut the margin to 16-12. Plentywood ran off the next three points for a 19-12 lead en route to the 25-14 win.
