Senior Profile Kirkaldie Plays Strong Role In Culbertson
Whether it’s on the football field or the basketball court, senior Mark Kirkaldie is a force for the Culbertson Cowboys.
Kirkaldie is involved in four different sports, but he says his favorite activity is football.
“I just like being around my teammates and having a fun time,” Kirkaldie said.
He said a highlight for him was the Cowboys placing second in the division this football season.
The 6-4 tight end/defensive lineman says he takes more pleasure out of registering a quarterback sack than making a catch. “It feels good to make a defensive stop,” he said.
He has played basketball for eight years. A highlight was qualifying for the divisional tournament last season.
During track season, he competes in the discus and javelin. He placed second at a meet in the javelin last year.
He has also golfed for the past two years. “It’s pretty relaxing and fun,” Kirkaldie said of the sport. He barely missed qualifying for the state golf meet last season, so that is a goal for next spring.
Kirkaldie is a member of Culbertson’s FFA program and he enjoys the ag sales competition.
In the classroom, his favorite subject is history. His favorite teacher is Christina Olson. “She always has some wisdom for me,” Kirkaldie said.
After high school, he plans to attend a trade school and become an electrician.
He has attended school in Culbertson throughout his life. “I like the small community,” he said.
