Bainville High School senior Miah Pippenger has enjoyed many highlights in athletics during her time playing for the Bulldogs.
One of the most special ones was helping the Bulldogs capture third place at the recent Eastern C divisional volleyball tournament.
“I think it was amazing that we got a trophy for divisionals,” Pippenger said. It was the volleyball program’s first trophy ever earned at divisionals. The Bulldogs also reached their first district championship match since 1989. It was Bainville’s first trip to the divisional tournament since 2014.
“I’m very proud of how our girls played,” Pippenger said.
The three-sport athlete says volleyball is her favorite sport.
“Our coaches make practices really fun,” Pippenger explained. “And I like spending time with my teammates.”
One of the highlights of the divisional tournament was upsetting district champion Scobey.
“I was really excited and proud of how we finished each set,” Pippenger said. During track season, she competes in the shot put, discus and javelin. She qualified for the state meet in the shot put as a sophomore.
“My goal is to make it to state again in my event,” she said.
She’s looking forward to this basketball season. Highlights of last year included playing in the district championship game and placing fourth at the divisional tourney.
When asked about her strong suit in basketball, she said, “Sometimes I can shoot, depends on the day.”
In the classroom, she enjoys being a teacher assistant for kindergarten students.
“It makes me smile when they say hi to me in the halls,” Pippenger said. She likes it when she spots some of the young students watching the home volleyball matches.
After high school, Pippenger plans to attend college and major in elementary education.
She has enjoyed spending time with kindergarten students, so she might end up teaching at that grade level.
