Commissioners Approve Raises
The Roosevelt County commissioners approved pay raises for two of their employees during a brief weekly meeting held on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
Approved for raises were Suzette Wagner and Cam Burshia.
Roosevelt County finished October with the state’s 44th lowest unemployment rate at 3 percent. The outcome comes after being 35th in September at 3.4 percent. Roosevelt County was 49th in August at 4.4 percent.
Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte announced last week that the state’s unemployment rate was 3.3 percent. The national rate is 4.1 percent. October is the 40th consecutive month of Montana’s unemployment begin at or below 3.4 percent.
Fallon County tops the ranking at 1.4 percent unemployment. Right behind are Powder River at 1.5, Mc-Cone at 1.6, Treasure at 1.7 and Prairie at 1.8.
Area counties include Daniels, Sheridan and Garfield tied for sixth at 1.9 percent. Valley County is 11th at 2 percent.
Dawson County and Richland County are tied for 20th at 2.3 percent.
The bottom five counties for unemployment are Madison at 5.3, Mineral at 4.6, Lincoln at 3.9, Glacier at 3.9 and Wheatland at 3.8, As far as reservations, Flathead fares best with an unemployment rate at 3.2 percent. Fort Peck ranks second at 3.8 percent.
