Trustees Rehire Coaches
The Culbertson School Board held its regular meeting Nov. 19. The meeting started at 6:30 p.m. The board met for board training from 4:40 p.m. until 6:25 p.m. and for regular session on Tuesday. Trustees present included Ian Walker, Wendy Becker, Amber Fox, Chris Petersen and Lisa Steppler. Representatives were Nicole Simonsen, Mike Olson and Lora Finnicum. Visitors were recognized.
Reports were presented. Teachers reported on FAFSA training coming up, a successful Veteran’s Day Program, finishing MAST testing and upcoming Education Week.
A motion was approved for 202526 coaches: Brian Manning for head high school football; George Nickoloff and Cassidy Obergfell as assistant high school football; Dirk Reiland as head junior high football; Todd Gabriel as assistant junior high football; Tiffany Nielsen as head high school volleyball; Tessa Rumsey as assistant high school volleyball; Jenna Bowker as head junior high volleyball; Janelle Ator as assistant junior high volleyball; Chance Hyatt as head high school cross country and Terri Sansaver as junior high head cross country.
A motion was approved to hire Ava Smith and Amy Jones as guest teachers, pending background checks.
The resignation of David Anderson as head elementary girls basketball was accepted. Jenna Bowker was approved for hire as head elementary girls basketball.
Notice for public comment for non-agenda items was given. Morgan Thiel, newly elected Montana state representative, introduced herself and presented contact information. The board was encouraged aged to contact her with educational questions or concerns. Trustees reported on earlier board training and Chris Petersen reported on meeting with Andy Ellerkamp on facilities and upcoming needs.
The minutes for Oct. 21 (regular board), Nov. 6 (negotiations committee), Nov. 12 (negotiations committee) and Nov. 14 (negotiations committee) were all approved.
A motion was approved to pay the November bills, approve investments, note cash and extra-curricular balances.
The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m.
